Having lost my own mother to breast cancer I understand the physical and emotional impact the illness has on a woman and her family. For a woman a good body image is an integral part of her wellbeing and I consider it a privilege to provide services that assist those on their journey to recovery.

I regard breast tattooing for post-mastectomy patients to be an important part of my social responsibility to the community and as such I charge generally less for my time than I do for other services. I also understand that due to the nature of breast cancer illness and its prolonged treatment that some patients may find themselves in severe financial hardship. If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation I still want to help you, therefore if you provided me with a letter from Centrelink stating that; "You are on a benefit, you are suffering severe financial hardship, and are unable to pay for breast tattooing" then I will provide services to you at no charge and I merely request that you make a modest donation to the The National Breast Cancer Foundation at some future time when you are able to do so. Wouldn't it be nice if all the reconstructive surgeons did the same!

Please advise me at the time of booking if you are a letter holder.

Bisphosphonate Therapy - (also called: diphosphonate’s) are a class of drugs that inhibit osteoclast action and the resorption of bone. Its uses include the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis & may also be prescribed with patients being treated for breast cancer, this is a prescription medication that may have an effect on the pigments used in cosmetic tattooing and complications may arise even from test patching.

I advise against providing cosmetic tattoo procedures on the face / head of a client who has ever been on Bisphosphonate therapy primarily because of the risks of Osteonecrosis potentially associated with the medication.

Clients who are, or have been taking Bisphosphonate therapy who require nipple tattooing should have a test patch performed at least 4 weeks prior to the commencement of nipple tattooing to ensure that they do not experience unusual pigment colour changes. Test patching in this instance is best performed in the axillary region (armpit area) rather than in the hairline.

hi there

i notice that you mention that you have a health professional on staff, that is quite reassuring for this type of service in comparison a tattoo parlour for instance. is it that same for most cosmetic tattoo salons?

Hi Janice, in my experience very few cosmetic tattooists have an 'on site' registered health practitioner.
Most are working in beauty salons or in single person situations, there are a few salons that have a GP pop in a few hours a month to provide botox injections etc but very few actually have a health practitioner on site all the time.

The most significant issue obviously is that if there is a supervising health practitioner on site then the client can have greater confidence in the service providers procedural standards and attention to safety.
